Frequently Asked Questions

Will these blades fit my safety razor?
Yes. Perma-Sharp Super blades are standard double-edge blades and fit standard DE safety razors, including butterfly, two-piece, three-piece and adjustable models.
Are Perma-Sharp Super blades sharp or mild?
Perma-Sharp Super is often described by shavers as a sharper blade with a crisp, efficient feel. Blade feel is subjective and depends on your razor, beard and technique.
Are Perma-Sharp Super blades suitable for beginners?
Perma-Sharp Super can be a reasonable choice for newer DE shavers, though its sharper edge rewards careful, light-pressure technique. As always, use light pressure and take your time while learning.
How many shaves can I expect from each blade?
Most wet shavers get multiple shaves per blade. The exact number depends on your beard coarseness, preparation and how close a shave you prefer. Replace the blade as soon as it starts to tug.
How are the blades packaged?
Every blade comes individually wrapped inside its pack of 5 for safe storage and handling.
Where are Perma-Sharp Super blades made?
Perma-Sharp Super blades are made in Russia from stainless steel.
Which pack size should I choose?

How should used blades be discarded?
Place used blades in a sealed Razor Blade Bank or another puncture-resistant container. Never place loose blades directly in household trash.

These are pretty sharp and smooth out of the box (between a Feather and a Vokshod IMO). The quirk that I don’t like is the coating seems to wear off really fast and you can see rust around 3-4 shaves if you sit out a day. The blade feels sharper after the first shave, too, but then drags after that. My guess is the coating wears off so the sharp blade metal is exposed, and then that wears away quickly. I can get 3 comfortable shaves out of these blades, and a fourth if I’m ok with a little pull. YMMV, but overall I think these are a great alternative to Feathers based on price and performance (I get about 2-3 shaves with Feathers before they pull). For comparison, Vokshods aren’t as sharp to me but last longer–maybe 4 shaves. Persona Blues will last me 4-5 shaves, but they’re not as sharp for me and I have to use more pressure and passes on the razors I use.

They work great for me, and gives me a really close shave. Not exactly the smoothest/sharpest I’ve tried for my face/hair(personally love the Gillette 7 O’clock Greens), but I can still achieve irritation free BBS. I think a lot of people try really hard to find that right blade that will give them that irritation free shave, but tend forget a bit that technique matters the most in having a good shave. Having good gear helps, but having great technique is what most starters really need to focus on.

I use a rather aggressive razor(Wunderbar), and I seem to have great shaves no matter the blade I use. An extremely light touch, and using your whole arm and not your wrist to shave seems to be very key for me to achieve great shaves. Also the less passes, the better. Most of the time I just do XTG, then ATG. If I know the blade is really sharp, just one pass ATG works for me. I used to constantly get nicks and razor burn, and I’ve spent a lot on my search to get a great shave. Now that I’ve figured out the technique that works best with my face, gear doesn’t matter as much(although I keep going back to a few blades because of their consistency). I’ll even use Barbasol from a can on some days with no problem.

These blades are very good as they are quite sharp yet incredibly smooth. Be sure you have a good shaving technique down before trying them as it could be easy for a beginner to get nicks and cuts without knowing it. Highly recommended.

A couple years ago I made the switch from regular multi-blade razors and dry shaving, to single double edge razors and wet shaving.
I’ve been using these blades almost exclusively ever since, and have a stockpile to last me years just incase.
Paired with the Rex Ambassador these things provide the smoothest and sharpest shaving experience I could ever dream of. And that’ll probably be the case for any decent razor paired with this blade.

I will say my experience with blades are limited, being that once I found this, I haven’t looked any further.
I’ve tried Feather blades, and a few generic ones. Feather blades are sharp , I would say sharper than Perma-Sharp, but that may just be because Perma-Sharp are smoother. Feather tends to tug on me and I end up with quite a few nicks every time I’ve tried to use them, but Perma-Sharp just glides across with beautifully smooth feedback. Comparing these with cheaper generic blades is a night and day difference.

For refence I have relatively smooth and sensitive skin, and in the end everybody’s face is different.
However I can’t imagine these performing poorly unless your skin doesn’t agree with the Teflon coating, or is as rough as sandpaper.

For bbs shave this paired with some Stirling Soap, is all you’ll ever need.

Good quality blades. Sharp and smooth with decent edge retention. For me personally I get a better more comfortable shave with GSB. Could be due to my sensitive skin. Still great blades and will be stay in rotation with my GSB.

**After using these blades for many months now, they have quickly become my 2nd favorite blade just behind Voskhod. These are just a tad bit sharper than Voskhod and almost just as smooth. I get at least 4-5 great shaves out of a blade and could probably get even more but for around 10 cents a blade I can afford a fresh blade after 4 or 5 uses. I would give up my remaining Rapira Plat Lux’s(90) along with my Lord Plat Class(90ish) for even just 20 Gillette perma-sharp blades!

I have very coarse hair, so much that blades that are on the shaper side(ASTRA SP and Personna in my opinion) become dull. For a frame of reference, i do one pass across the grain for efficiency. I was lucky at times to get to the 2nd shave without tugging or pulling. I must say these blades are SHARP!! Went right through my hair like butter without a single tug or pull, even on the hair on and around my chin, and I have no irritation. Amazing blades, I put them up there with the Gillette Nacet.

Beware that these blades are very aggressive. On a 1 to 5 scale I would in my opinion put these at a 4.5 with only a feather blade being more aggressive. I have sensitive skin, and a course beard. All my skin can stand is a 2 pass shave, and these get it done. These are my go-to blades now. I would NOT recommend these for a beginner to shaving with a double edge safety razor as they are not forgiving to shaving technique error. Also be careful taking blades out of the wax paper, there are two small wax circles that hold the blade to the wax paper and sometimes the blade will stick to the paper.
