Description
Product Overview
The Parker Variant Rose Gold is a two piece adjustable double edge safety razor built on a genuine brass frame. A numbered dial at the base of the handle sets how far the blade is presented, so the same razor can be run mild or aggressive without changing anything else.
Parker publishes a weight of 4 oz (110 g) and a length of 4 in, which places it among the heavier double edge razors rather than the light end of the range.
The frame is electroplated in rose gold with satin chrome accents. Parker publishes no comb type for this model, so the head style is not stated here.

Adjustable Head and Blade Changes
This is a two piece razor. The head lifts away from the handle as one unit rather than separating into a top cap and a base plate, so there is one fewer part to hold on to over a wet sink.
The blade setting is changed with the numbered dial on the handle. Parker publishes a range of 1 to 5, with 1 the mildest setting and 5 the most aggressive. Turning the dial changes how the head presents the blade, so one razor can be set differently for different parts of the face or for different stages of beard growth.
Who This Razor Is Best For
The dial runs from 1 to 5, so blade exposure is changed on the razor rather than by owning several razors.
Parker publishes 4 oz (110 g), which is at the heavy end of the double edge range.
The setting can be changed between passes or between shaves without taking the razor apart.
Weight and Shaving Feel
At 4 oz (110 g) over 4 in the Variant carries a lot of mass in a standard length body, so the razor sits heavy in the hand and the weight does more of the work than pressure does. The dial setting changes the shave more than the grip does, so the same razor can feel mild or keen depending on where it is set.
How a razor feels is subjective and varies from one shaver to another. Beard type, blade choice, lather and technique all affect the result, so treat these descriptions as a general guide rather than a promise about your own shave.
Getting the Best from Your Razor
- Prepare the skin first. Many shavers find a hot shower or a warm damp towel before the shave makes a difference.
- Build lather with a shave soap or cream. A shave brush lifts the hair and spreads the lather more evenly.
- Let the razor do the work and apply very little pressure. Hold the head at a shallow angle to the skin rather than pressing it flat.
- Take the first pass with the grain, then reduce further on later passes if you want to.
- Rinse the head under running water between passes rather than tapping the razor on the sink.
- Change the blade once it starts to feel rough or drag. Blade life varies between individuals.
Care and Storage
Rinse the razor under warm running water after every shave and shake the water off. Take the head off from time to time and rinse the head and the handle threads so that soap does not build up, and run water through the dial mechanism. Dry the razor and leave it where air can reach it rather than in a closed cabinet or a sealed travel tube.
The finish is plated. Avoid abrasive polishes, scouring pads and strong household cleaners, which can cut through a plated finish.
Keep unused blades dry and stored in their original packaging. Place used blades in a sealed Razor Blade Bank or another puncture-resistant container. Never place loose blades directly in household trash.

Very good product. Very similar to the Progress.

My wife likes this Parker Variant Adjustable Double Edge Safety Razor. The first one arrived with the adjustment markers misaligned, but they quickly replaced it with a new one that’s working great.
The only downside is that even on the lowest setting, it can still be quite aggressive, so caution is needed to avoid cuts. She found the included Parker blades a bit too harsh, but the Astra Superior Platinum blades work much better for her. We got a multi-pack of different style blades, and they’ve become her preferred choice. Overall, she’s happy with the razor’s performance and adjustability options

It’s a wonderful razor that can be done with this one, something you can’t usually do without preparing a few razors with different shaving flavors. For example, suppose you shave 3 times with one shave. The first time is to shave in order. When the second time is a sideways shave or reverse shave, the third time is a final shave, the first and second times are normal, and the third time is soft, etc., can be shaved separately. That’s why it became one of my favorites

Looks gorgeous, feels durable and has a good weight to it. I own three other adjustables (Gillette SA, Mingshi 2000s and Rockwell T) and I find myself reaching for the Variant more often. There are no alignment issues and it shaves well with Parker blades.
Bought this on a whim but I do not regret it
