Product Overview

The Parker Walnut and Chrome Silvertip Badger Shave Brush sets a 20 mm silvertip badger knot into a finished walnut and chrome handle and is supplied with an acrylic stand in a gift box.

The 20 mm knot is the common all round size in traditional wet shaving, quick to load and easy to control on the face. The walnut section gives the handle a warm wood look, and the chrome section adds weight so the brush sits steady in the hand.

Lathering Performance

Silvertip badger carries more water than the other badger grades and has the softest natural tips, so it builds a rich lather quickly and feels gentle on the face. The 20 mm knot works for building lather in a bowl or scuttle and for lathering directly on the face, and it releases lather steadily through a multi pass shave.

Who This Brush Is Best For

Everyday wet shavers
A 20 mm knot is the common all round size and suits most soaps and bowls.
Wood handle preference
The walnut and chrome handle is a change from moulded resin.
Gift buyers
The brush arrives in a gift box with its stand.

Getting the Best from Your Brush

  1. Soak the knot in warm water for a minute or two before you start, then shake out the excess.
  2. Load the brush by working it over the soap or cream until the hair is fully charged.
  3. Build the lather in a bowl or on the face, adding water a little at a time until it turns glossy.
  4. Give a new brush several shaves to break in before judging how it loads and how soft it feels.

Adding water gradually rather than all at once is the usual difference between a thin lather and a thick one.

Care and Storage

Rinse the knot thoroughly under warm running water after every shave until the water runs clear, then shake out the excess and stand the brush bristles down so it can dry. Avoid boiling water, harsh detergents and leaving the brush sitting wet in an enclosed space. Do not stand the brush on its knot to dry. The acrylic stand holds the brush knot down between shaves so water drains away from the base of the knot. Dry the wooden section of the handle as well rather than leaving it standing in water.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is the knot?
The knot is 20 mm, the common all round size for a traditional shaving brush. It suits both bowl lathering and face lathering.
How tall is the brush?
Parker publishes a handle height of 2.3 in, an overall height of 4.7 in and a base diameter of 1.25 in.
What is silvertip badger hair?
Silvertip is the top grade of badger hair used in shaving brushes. The hair keeps its natural lighter coloured tips, feels the softest of the badger grades on the face, and holds a large amount of water, which makes a rich lather easy to build.
Can I use this brush with both soap and cream?
Yes. Silvertip badger works with hard soaps, soft soaps and creams, and can be used for bowl lathering or face lathering.
How do I prepare the brush before shaving?
Soak the knot in warm water for a minute or two, then shake out the excess water before loading your soap or cream.
Will a new brush shed hairs?
A few loose hairs in the first several uses are normal for a natural hair brush and usually stop on their own. Heavy shedding that continues is not normal.
How should the brush be dried?
Rinse the knot thoroughly, shake out the water and stand the brush bristles down so air can circulate. Do not store it wet in a closed cabinet or a sealed travel tube.
Does a new badger brush have a smell?
New natural hair brushes can carry a faint animal smell for the first few washes. Lathering the brush with soap several times and rinsing well normally clears it.

here are so many brushes on Amazon it’s very hard to choose a brush.

This brush is silver tip badger. It is perfectly soft on the face but has a good back bone to get lather.

It had absolutely no smell to it and I’ve had the brush over a month and it has not shed a single hair.

I have avoided all the negative complaints that I’ve seen about other brushes in the reviews on Amazon by buying this brush.

Also the handle is very comfortable and is not slippery in the least.

This brush is manufactured by Parker who is a reputable manufacturer, it is Silvertip badger of which I heard is the best.

I’m extremely happy with this purchase this is a high-quality brush at a reasonable price. It did not disappoint.
