Description

Product Overview

A chrome two prong stand standing 7 in tall, with a heavyweight felt lined base. It takes a razor and a brush, and the brush opening accepts knots up to 25 mm.

The felt lining is the detail worth noting: it sits between a heavy metal base and your counter, so the stand grips rather than slides and does not scratch the surface underneath. The razor prong takes cartridge razors as well as safety razors.

What a Stand Does

A stand keeps the razor or brush organized and allows a rinsed brush to dry in an open, ventilated position between shaves. That is the practical job it does: everything has a place, nothing is left lying on a wet counter, and the brush sits in the open air rather than on a shelf.

Keeping the razor on the same stand gives it a place of its own as well, off the counter and out of the way rather than lying by the sink.

Who This Stand Is Best For

Mixed razor types
Takes cartridge razors as well as safety razors.
Protected counters
A felt lined base rather than bare metal.
Larger brushes
The opening accepts knots up to 25 mm.

Getting the Best from Your Stand

  1. Rinse the brush thoroughly after the shave until the water runs clear, then shake the excess out before it goes on the stand.
  2. Hang the brush bristles down on the hook. That is the position the stand is designed for.
  3. Leave the stand somewhere air moves, rather than in a closed cabinet.
  4. Rinse and dry the razor before it goes back on the stand so that soap does not dry onto the metal.

A stand does not need to be dried after every use, but wiping the base occasionally stops water marks building up.

Care and Storage

Wipe the stand dry from time to time so that water marks and soap film do not build up on the finish. If soap does dry on it, warm water and a soft cloth will lift it. Do not use an abrasive cream or a scouring pad, because both will dull a plated finish permanently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my razor fit this stand?
Safety razors, and Mach 3 and Fusion cartridge razors, all hang on the razor prong. A straight or barber razor will not, because there is no head to hook over.
Will my brush fit this stand?
If the knot measures 25 mm or less across, yes. Measure across the widest point of the hair, not the handle below it.
What does the felt lining do?
It sits between the metal base and your counter. On a heavy stand that stops the base sliding on a wet surface and stops it marking the counter underneath.
Does the stand come with a razor or a brush?
No. This listing is for the stand on its own. Any razor or brush shown in the photographs is there to show scale and is not included.
Why hang the brush bristles down?
It is the position the hook is designed for, and it leaves the knot open to the air rather than resting on a surface. Many wet shavers prefer to store a brush this way between shaves. Use whichever position suits you and your brush.
Will it tip over?
The base is weighted, so it stays put on a wet counter with the stand loaded. Like any stand it can be knocked over if you catch it with a sleeve, but it is not top heavy in normal use.
Can I use it for a straight razor or a cartridge razor?
Cartridge razors yes: Mach 3 and Fusion both hang on the razor prong. A straight razor or a barber razor will not, because there is no head to hook over the prong.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the stand dry from time to time so that water marks and soap film do not build up on the finish. If soap does dry on it, warm water and a soft cloth will lift it. Do not use an abrasive cream or a scouring pad, because both will dull a plated finish permanently.

Looks good. Solidly built. Does what it’s supposed to. One minor drawback, after unboxing it had a very strong, very irritating chemical smell. It faded relatively quickly but it is noteworthy.

Works great for any standard razor though the one pictured is Gillette. Not sure what the other side could be used for, maybe a small toothbrush.
It’s better than placing your razor on the edge of your sink, which is what I’ve been doing for years. Cleans up your sink area quite nicely.

I got this stand to replace the one that came with my razor. The original broke very quick. This unit has better construction and is more stable/sturdy then original. Great price!. Works as described and the finish stays shiny and clean, is not rusting like original stand. Love it.

    Krausica

Pretty straightforward; looks nice and clean, holds a good safety razor and my husband’s shaving cream brush. The chrome is a nice finish and it feels sturdy enough to last for a while, no complaints here!

I’m happy with this. It’s cheap and seems to be well-made. It holds my Edwin Jagger brush and double edge safety razor. If you have a brush, don’t store it upright because the water will seep into the handle and destroy the bristles and glue over time. You want to hang it bristles-down. The bottom isn’t felt like another reviewer said, but a dense closed-cell foam which is better because it doesn’t absorb water as much. The plating is holding up on mine so far with no rust spots.

  6. 5 out of 5

    Kenton Cernea

This holder holds a razor and shaving brush. The base is weighted so it won’t tip easily. Polished metal finish is very attractive. Saves space on your shelf and keeps razor and brush sanitary by not touching any surfaces.
