The Emlok: a lathering bowl turned from beech and lacquered, with TGS’s spiral cut inside the walls, the ridges that give a brush something to work against and speed the lather up.
At 13 cm across and 6 cm tall it takes a full soap puck or a scoop of cream with room to whip, and at 300 g it sits planted while the brush works. Handcrafted in Italy, in the listing’s long-standing specification.

What This Bowl Does
A textured lathering bowl halves the work of a smooth one: the ridges break the lather against themselves as the brush turns, folding in air and water faster than plain walls can.
The Emlok’s facts are the listing’s established ones: lacquered beech, the spiral interior that optimizes lather production, 13 by 6 cm at 300 g, handcrafted in Italy. The lacquer is what lets wood live a wet life; dry it and it lasts.
Who This Is Best For
The spiral walls whip cream into lather in half the strokes.
Lacquered beech alongside badger and steel: the traditional materials.
300 g of wood survives a wash bag the way ceramics do not.
How To Use It
Load your wet brush from a puck or drop a scoop of cream in the bowl, then work the brush in circles against the spiral walls, adding drops of water until the lather peaks.
It takes pucks up to about 12 cm, the listing’s stated useful diameter, which covers every soap we stock.
Care and Storage
Rinse, towel-dry and leave it open to the air. The lacquer protects the beech, but no wooden bowl should sit in standing water or a dishwasher.

Nadine B –
It is quite large, so you can move the brush inside as if you were beating eggs.
In the background, it has a texture that supposedly helps to create the foam faster, but wow, not much else either.
What is most appreciated is the comfort when foaming and the material, which if dropped does not break like ceramic ones.
Fabrizio –
I have been using it for months now and I must say that it is of very high quality, comfortable and very nice.
Steve B –
I’ve had a few lather bowls over the years but this one is now my favorite. A natural solid wood that has slightly flared sides and is both wide and deep enough to keep the lather from spilling over the top edge while whisking it up. The ripples on the bottom work great for developing a fast thick lather. For the price I really don’t think this bowl can be beat.

Shatterproof and big enough to whip up the foam Ergonomically designed to hold the bowl firmly Respect!
Dirk Annaert –
Perfectly made of large and well-treated wood, very good for foaming up shaving soap
