Product Overview

The Parker Gray and Rose Gold Pure Badger Shave Brush sets a 21 mm pure badger knot into a heavyweight gray resin handle with rose gold accents and is supplied with a clear acrylic stand in a gift box.

At 21 mm the knot sits between the common 20 mm all round size and the larger 22 mm brushes, so it works in a bowl and on the face. The long loft gives the bristles room to splay over the soap, and the weighted handle keeps the brush steady while you load it.

Lathering Performance

Pure badger is the standard grade of badger hair. It absorbs and holds water well, and the hair keeps enough backbone to lift soap out of a hard puck without going limp. A 21 mm knot with a long loft loads quickly from a puck or a cream and releases lather steadily through a multi pass shave.

Who This Brush Is Best For

Everyday wet shavers
A 21 mm knot is close to the common all round size and suits most soaps and bowls.
Face latherers
The knot is small enough to control directly on the face.
Gift buyers
The brush arrives in a gift box with its stand.

Getting the Best from Your Brush

  1. Soak the knot in warm water for a minute or two before you start, then shake out the excess.
  2. Load the brush by working it over the soap or cream until the hair is fully charged.
  3. Build the lather in a bowl or on the face, adding water a little at a time until it turns glossy.
  4. Give a new brush several shaves to break in before judging how it loads and how soft it feels.

Adding water gradually rather than all at once is the usual difference between a thin lather and a thick one.

Care and Storage

Rinse the knot thoroughly under warm running water after every shave until the water runs clear, then shake out the excess and stand the brush bristles down so it can dry. Avoid boiling water, harsh detergents and leaving the brush sitting wet in an enclosed space. Do not stand the brush on its knot to dry. The clear acrylic stand holds the brush knot down between shaves so water drains away from the base of the knot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is the knot?
The knot is 21 mm. That sits just above the common 20 mm all round size, so it holds a little more lather while staying easy to control on the face.
How tall is the brush?
Parker publishes a handle length of 3.0 in and an overall height of 5 in, which is a standard size for a bowl or face lathering brush.
What is pure badger hair?
Pure badger is the standard grade of badger hair used in shaving brushes. It holds water well and has more backbone than the softer grades, which makes it straightforward to load soap and work up lather.
Can I use this brush with both soap and cream?
Yes. Pure badger works with hard soaps, soft soaps and creams, and can be used for bowl lathering or face lathering.
How do I prepare the brush before shaving?
Soak the knot in warm water for a minute or two, then shake out the excess water before loading your soap or cream.
Will a new brush shed hairs?
A few loose hairs in the first several uses are normal for a natural hair brush and usually stop on their own. Heavy shedding that continues is not normal.
How should the brush be dried?
Rinse the knot thoroughly, shake out the water and stand the brush bristles down so air can circulate. Do not store it wet in a closed cabinet or a sealed travel tube.
Does a new badger brush have a smell?
New natural hair brushes can carry a faint animal smell for the first few washes. Lathering the brush with soap several times and rinsing well normally clears it.

Nice lather nice weight. It’s not super soft, however this is fine for me as it has a slight exfoliating effect.
