I have been using a cheap Wilkinson Sword brush for a few months now, it’s dead to me! I wasn’t aware just how much of a change, how nice a well made bruch feels against my face. Great product! Just one word of warning, if you pick up one of these, use way less soap. I loaded my bruch up and omg, so much thick cream. Bruch smells a little gamey, but that’s normal, will go away after a few shaves. Enjoy.

While the Parker Badger Brush is more expensive, it is a much better brush than cheaper options I have also owned. First, the brush has not lost a single hair since I bought it. Second, the bristles make a great lather. Finally, the heavy handle makes the brush submerge itself in water when prepping it for shaving. I have been very happy with my purchase.

I’ve been shaving with a brush and special soap for a couple of decades and I’ve gone through so many cheap brushes I finally woke up one day and figured if I bought a really good brush that I could actually save money. I did a lot of research on what type of bristles to get and I settled on this one. I’m glad I did. It has a small handle that took a little getting used to but I love the heft to it and the chrome – it never tarnishes. The bristles stay in the handle – I don’t think more than 4 or five have fallen out since I’ve owned it. It comes with a small plastic stand that was broken when I got it – no big deal for me. The bristles are a bit scratchy and not as soft as the synthetic ones but boy do they build up a big lather. Well worth the money.

It’s an excellent brush. Very little shedding, absorbs a ton of water, creates a phenomenal lather. Combine it with a good shaving soap (I like Proraso Shaving Soap 5.2 oz (147 g), personally) and a decent razor, and you’re well on your way to the best shave of your life. On top of that, you will save money over time because shaving soap is far cheaper than shaving cream. Everyone has his own method, but if you’re new to this game, here’s mine: Fill half the basin of your sink with the hottest water you can get out of the tap, and place a mug full of this water in the basin. (this allows the mug itself to heat up, which will keep the lather warmer longer.) Let the mug and the brush soak in this water for about two minutes. Squeeze most of the water out of the brush, and swirl your brush in some shaving soap, 4-5 rotations, like you’re mixing with a paint brush. No need to overdo it. Then empty most of the hot water out of the mug, saving just enough water to coat the bottom of the mug, and work up a warm, thick lather in the mug, adding water as needed. Then come back and write a review of the best shave of your life.
