Product Overview

The Parker Faux Horn Silvertip Badger Shaving Brush and Stand sets a 22 mm long loft silvertip badger knot into a faux horn resin handle and is supplied with an acrylic stand in a gift box.

Silvertip is the top grade of badger hair, and the long loft on this 22 mm knot gives the soft tips room to splay over the soap, so the brush loads easily and holds a generous amount of lather. The faux horn handle gives the brush the look of a traditional barbershop brush.

Lathering Performance

Silvertip badger carries more water than the other badger grades and has the softest natural tips, so it builds a rich lather quickly and feels gentle on the face. The long loft on this 22 mm knot gives the tips room to splay over the soap, so the brush loads easily and releases lather steadily through a multi pass shave.

Who This Brush Is Best For

Sensitive skin
The soft natural tips of silvertip badger are gentle on the face.
Traditional styling
The faux horn handle follows the classic barbershop look.
Gift buyers
The brush arrives in a gift box with its stand.

Getting the Best from Your Brush

  1. Soak the knot in warm water for a minute or two before you start, then shake out the excess.
  2. Load the brush by working it over the soap or cream until the hair is fully charged.
  3. Build the lather in a bowl or on the face, adding water a little at a time until it turns glossy.
  4. Give a new brush several shaves to break in before judging how it loads and how soft it feels.

Adding water gradually rather than all at once is the usual difference between a thin lather and a thick one.

Care and Storage

Rinse the knot thoroughly under warm running water after every shave until the water runs clear, then shake out the excess and stand the brush bristles down so it can dry. Avoid boiling water, harsh detergents and leaving the brush sitting wet in an enclosed space. Do not stand the brush on its knot to dry. The acrylic stand holds the brush knot down between shaves so water drains away from the base of the knot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is the knot?
The knot is 22 mm, a little larger than the common 20 mm all round size. It holds more water and lather, which suits bowl lathering and longer multi pass shaves.
Is the handle real horn?
No. The handle is a faux horn resin. It is moulded and polished to resemble horn, but no horn is used.
What is silvertip badger hair?
Silvertip is the top grade of badger hair used in shaving brushes. The hair keeps its natural lighter coloured tips, feels the softest of the badger grades on the face, and holds a large amount of water, which makes a rich lather easy to build.
Can I use this brush with both soap and cream?
Yes. Silvertip badger works with hard soaps, soft soaps and creams, and can be used for bowl lathering or face lathering.
How do I prepare the brush before shaving?
Soak the knot in warm water for a minute or two, then shake out the excess water before loading your soap or cream.
Will a new brush shed hairs?
A few loose hairs in the first several uses are normal for a natural hair brush and usually stop on their own. Heavy shedding that continues is not normal.
How should the brush be dried?
Rinse the knot thoroughly, shake out the water and stand the brush bristles down so air can circulate. Do not store it wet in a closed cabinet or a sealed travel tube.
Does a new badger brush have a smell?
New natural hair brushes can carry a faint animal smell for the first few washes. Lathering the brush with soap several times and rinsing well normally clears it.

I have tried many shave brushes and this brush is right up there with the best. For a silvertip, the price can’t be beat. It’s very full and has a nice backbone. Lathers up my soaps and creams with ease. It has a high coverage area so can quickly lather my entire face with ease. It is large, like a big, blooming onion! Definitely hang it to dry even though it stands well on its chrome base.

Parker makes great shaving brushes. I have yet to order one from them that I dislike. They are not expensive and they hold heat and feel amazing to use!

I’ve owned many shaving brushes over the past 45 years, including some that cost much more. This is the best shaving brush I have owned.

This is now my brush of choice having used a few other brands in the past and other types of bristles. This is quite a heavy brush with a wide handle. However, I prefer this over a longer, narrower handle. Finish is excellent and it lathers up perfectly. I would recommend this brush.

Good dense shaving brush, nice quality which lathers well. Initially a very few stray bristles but has settled down now. Not cheap but very happy with my choice.
