The Styletto V2 in Shadow Blue is a three piece closed comb double edge safety razor made by The Goodfellas’ Smile in ttaly. tt is CNC machined from aluminum and anodized in a Shadow Blue finish, and the top cap is curved rather than flat.

The Goodfellas’ Smile publishes a weight of 36 g (1.27 oz) and an overall length of 93 mm (3.66 in), on an 85 mm knurled handle measuring 13 mm across.

The published head geometry is a 0.88 mm blade gap with a positive blade exposure of 0.37 mm, which is a wider gap and a larger exposure than the Syntesi in the same range. A nylon washer comes pre-installed at the handle thread.

Three Piece Design and Blade Changes

A three piece razor comes apart into three separate components: the handle, the top cap and the base plate. Unscrewing the handle releases the top cap, the blade sits between the top cap and the base plate, and screwing the handle back on clamps the assembly together.

Because every part separates, the head can be rinsed thoroughly and dried, and there is no hinge or spring mechanism inside the head to wear or seize.

Weight and Shaving Feel

At 36 g (1.27 oz) over 93 mm (3.66 in) the Styletto V2 is a light razor, so very little of the work comes from the mass of the tool. The published 0.88 mm gap and 0.37 mm positive exposure put more blade in contact with the skin than a razor with a smaller gap.

How a razor feels is subjective and varies from one shaver to another. Beard type, blade choice, lather and technique all affect the result, so treat these descriptions as a general guide rather than a promise about your own shave.

Getting the Best from Your Razor

1. Prepare the skin first. Many shavers find a hot shower or a warm damp towel before the shave makes a difference.
2. Build lather with a shave soap or cream. A shave brush lifts the hair and spreads the lather more evenly.
3. Let the razor do the work and apply very little pressure. Hold the head at a shallow angle to the skin rather than pressing it flat.
4. Take the first pass with the grain, then reduce further on later passes if you want to.
5. Rinse the head under running water between passes rather than tapping the razor on the sink.
6. Change the blade once it starts to feel rough or drag. Blade life varies between individuals.

Care and Storage

Rinse the razor under warm running water after every shave and shake the water off. Take the head apart from time to time and rinse the top cap, base plate and handle threads so that soap does not build up. Dry the razor and leave it where air can reach it rather than in a closed cabinet or a sealed travel tube.

The finish is anodized rather than plated. Avoid abrasive polishes, scouring pads and strong household cleaners, and do not soak the razor in bleach or drain cleaner, as these can attack an anodized aluminum surface. The nylon washer can be removed for cleaning and refitted.

Keep unused blades dry and stored in their original packaging. Place used blades in a sealed Razor Blade Bank or another puncture-resistant container. Never place loose blades directly in household trash.
