Description

Product Overview

A barber-quantity box of Gillette Barber single-use straight razors: fifty folding open-edge razors, each with one fixed blade that is never loaded, changed or replaced. Every razor arrives with a protective plastic guard over the blade. The guard is snapped off before the first stroke, and the whole razor is discarded after use.

Boxes of fifty exist because of how the format is used. A barber takes a fresh razor per client, so a box is a working supply rather than a purchase. This is the single-use version of a barber’s open-edge razor: the same cutting geometry, without stropping, honing or fitting blades.

Key Features

  • Fifty single-use barber straight razors in one box
  • One fixed blade per razor: nothing is loaded, changed or replaced
  • Protective plastic guard over the blade, snapped off before the first stroke
  • The barbershop format: a fresh razor per client
  • Open cutting edge once prepared, as on any barber straight razor
  • Used once and discarded whole, so no loose blade is ever handled

What Is Included

  • Fifty Gillette Barber single-use straight razors

Fifty complete razors, each with one fixed blade in its own folding handle, supplied with a protective plastic guard over the edge. These are not loose blades and there is nothing to assemble: every unit is a whole razor.

What These Razors Are

An open cutting edge gives a close, precise line, which is why a barber reaches for one at the neckline, around the beard and on a head shave. The single-use version keeps that edge and removes the maintenance: no strop, no hone, no blade to fit.

Per this listing’s verified facts: fifty complete Gillette Barber razors, one fixed blade each, folding handles, each supplied with a protective plastic guard that is removed before use. Each razor is used and discarded whole, so no loose blade is ever handled, which is also why blade-changing guidance does not apply to this product.

Who This Is Best For

Professional barbers
A fresh razor per client, fifty clients per box.
Barber students and trainees
The format you will use professionally, in the quantity practice actually takes.
Experienced open-edge users
A straight-razor edge with no strop, no hone and no blade to fit.
Single-use by preference
A fresh edge every time, discarded after the shave rather than maintained.

Preparation and Use

Unwrap the razor and snap off the protective plastic guard covering the blade. From that point the cutting edge is open, so handle it as you would any barber straight razor. Nothing else is fitted, loaded or removed.

Shave with plenty of lather, a shallow angle and no downward pressure, holding the skin taut and working in short strokes. When you are finished, discard the whole razor. The blade never leaves the head, so the unit is disposed of as one piece, treated as a sharp item and according to your municipality’s rules.

How This Differs From Other Razors

Versus a reusable shavette
A shavette is a permanent handle you load with a half blade or a purpose-made blade, changed between shaves. This razor has one fixed blade and no loading mechanism at all. Same open edge, no blade handling.
Versus a double edge safety razor
A safety razor holds the blade at a set angle behind a guard, which is what makes it forgiving. Here the edge is open and the angle is yours to hold. More precise at a line, less forgiving across a cheek.
Versus a cartridge or safety disposable
Those keep a guard between the blade and the skin for the life of the razor. On this one the guard is packaging: it comes off before the first stroke and does not come back.
Versus a traditional straight razor
A traditional straight is honed, stropped and kept for decades. This is the same cutting geometry in a form you use once and throw away, which is why barbershops adopted it.

Care and Storage

Store the box dry. Each razor is sealed until unwrapped, and there is nothing to maintain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these razors or loose blades?
Complete razors, fifty of them. Each has one fixed blade in its own folding handle, supplied with a protective plastic guard over the edge. No loose blades are in the box, and nothing is fitted or removed except that guard.
How many shaves per razor?
They are single-use by design: one client in a barber setting. A home shaver may get more than one shave from an edge, but the format is built to be discarded rather than maintained.
Who buys fifty at once?
Barbers, first: one fresh razor per client. After that, barber students and trainees who need volume to practise with, and experienced open-edge shavers who want the edge without the upkeep.
Does the guard stay on while shaving?
No. Each razor arrives with a protective plastic guard over the blade for shipping and handling. You snap it off before the first stroke, and from then on the cutting edge is open, exactly as on a traditional barber straight razor. This is not a guarded cartridge or safety disposable.
Can I recycle them?
Disposal rules vary by municipality for mixed plastic and metal items. The constant is that the blade never leaves the head, so the razor discards as one piece, but treat it as a sharp item once the guard is off.
How do they compare to a safety razor?
They solve different problems. A double edge safety razor is the more forgiving daily shave and the cheaper one over time. An open edge gives a more precise line, which is why a barber uses one for necklines, outlines and head shaves.
Why is the per-razor price so low?
Volume: fifty in one box, without blister packaging, is how the barber format was always meant to be bought.
Where are they made?
The stock we currently ship is marked Made in the EU on the box.

I never try shaving with a straight razor before. After watching a few tutorial VDOs on YouTube. I think this will be a very good start. I found that this razor is extremely sharp and on my first try, I cut myself badly. After a few times, I started to understand the proper angle and pressure and am able to achieve a very close shave. When I use these up, I may buy an actual straight razor. The only issue with these razors are they are very light weight so I need to apply some pressure when I shave and cannot let the razor weight do the work according to the tutorial VDOs.

These disposable straight razors are a must for one who wants to venture into straight razor shaving. For individuals the blade stays sharp for many shaves. For barbers, this is a cheap quality disposable one time use straight razor. I began to shave with it in stages. First one the side of my face and chin, then the flat parts of my neck before I dared to shave around the corners of my chin and the upper lip area. Take your time with a gentle touch and good prep and you won’t butcher your face.

I bought these to try because they were inexpensive. They are very sharp and work just fine. Especially when traveling. For everyday use I have found the Lord single edge blades to work very well in the shavettes.
