Description

Product Overview

Cella Milano Beard Protective Balm is a 100 ml conditioning balm for the beard and moustache, built around shea butter, jojoba, almond and argan oils in a beeswax base. It gives a soft, gentle hold that shapes without stiffness and conditions the hair at the same time.

The scent is Cella’s juniper and cinnamon accord, spicy and aromatic rather than sweet. Made in Italy by Cella Milano, the Milanese house that has been making shaving soap since 1899.

What This Balm Does

A beard balm has two jobs and most products only do one. This one conditions and it holds. The oils go into the hair and the skin underneath, which is where beard itch and flaking actually start, and the beeswax sits on the surface to keep stray hairs lying the way you put them.

The hold is deliberately light. It tames and directs rather than locking things in place, so the beard still moves and still feels like hair at the end of the day. That is what makes it work as an everyday balm rather than something you save for occasions.

Ingredients

Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, Almond Oil, Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Vitamin E (Tocopherol), Argan Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Fragrance, Citric Acid.

No artificial colouring. The scent comes from the juniper and cinnamon accord, not from a heavy synthetic base.

Who This Is Best For

Dry or itchy beards
The oil blend reaches the skin underneath, not just the hair.
Moustache shapers
Enough beeswax to direct the ends without a wax-stiff finish.
Cella loyalists
The same Milanese house behind the almond shaving cream.

How To Use

Scoop a small amount with the back of a fingernail, warm it between your palms until it turns clear, then work it through the beard from the skin outwards. Finish with a comb or brush to set the direction.

Best applied to a clean, towel dry beard. Start with less than you think you need, particularly on a short beard, and add more only if the ends still lift.

Care and Storage

Keep the tin closed and out of direct sun. The balm firms up in the cold and softens in the warm, which is normal for a beeswax and butter formula. If it has gone hard, warm the scoop longer in your palms before applying.

Frequently Asked Questions

How strong is the hold?
Light to medium. It tames flyaways and directs the moustache, but it will not lock a shape in place the way a moustache wax does. The trade off is that the beard stays soft and touchable.
Balm or beard oil, which do I need?
Oil conditions only. A balm conditions and holds, because of the beeswax. If your beard is long enough to go its own way, or you want the moustache to behave, the balm is the one.
What does it smell like?
Juniper and cinnamon. Spicy and aromatic, with a dry herbal edge rather than a sweet one. It sits close to the skin and fades through the day instead of competing with a cologne.
Will it leave my beard greasy?
Not if you use a small amount. This is a rich formula, so a scoop the size of a pea covers a medium beard. Too much on a short beard is the usual cause of a greasy look.
Is 100 ml a lot?
Yes. Most beard balms sell in 50 to 60 ml tins. At normal daily use a 100 ml tin lasts a long time, which is a large part of why this one is good value.
Does it work on short stubble?
It does, mainly as a conditioner at that length. Use a very small amount and work it into the skin as much as the hair, which helps with the itch phase of growing a beard out.
Where is it made?
Italy, by Cella Milano, manufacturer reference Cella 57082. Cella has been producing shaving soap in Milan since 1899.
