Product Overview

The Parker Black and Chrome Pure Badger Shave Brush sets a 22 mm pure badger knot into a black and chrome resin handle and is supplied with an acrylic stand in a gift box.

The long loft on a 22 mm knot gives the bristles room to splay across the soap, so the brush loads easily and holds enough lather for several passes. The handle is weighted to sit steady in the hand while you work.

Lathering Performance

Pure badger is the standard grade of badger hair. It absorbs and holds water well, and the hair keeps enough backbone to lift soap out of a hard puck without going limp. The long loft on this 22 mm knot gives the tips room to splay over the soap, so the brush loads easily and releases lather steadily through a multi pass shave.

Who This Brush Is Best For

Getting the Best from Your Brush

  1. Soak the knot in warm water for a minute or two before you start, then shake out the excess.
  2. Load the brush by working it over the soap or cream until the hair is fully charged.
  3. Build the lather in a bowl or on the face, adding water a little at a time until it turns glossy.
  4. Give a new brush several shaves to break in before judging how it loads and how soft it feels.

Adding water gradually rather than all at once is the usual difference between a thin lather and a thick one.

Care and Storage

Rinse the knot thoroughly under warm running water after every shave until the water runs clear, then shake out the excess and stand the brush bristles down so it can dry. Avoid boiling water, harsh detergents and leaving the brush sitting wet in an enclosed space. Do not stand the brush on its knot to dry. The acrylic stand holds the brush knot down between shaves so water drains away from the base of the knot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is the knot?
The knot is 22 mm, a little larger than the common 20 mm all round size. It holds more water and lather, which suits bowl lathering and longer multi pass shaves.
How does this compare with the 20 mm Parker pure badger brush?
This brush has a 22 mm long loft knot and comes with an acrylic stand. The classic 20 mm Parker pure badger brush has a smaller knot and a chrome handle.
What is pure badger hair?
Pure badger is the standard grade of badger hair used in shaving brushes. It holds water well and has more backbone than the softer grades, which makes it straightforward to load soap and work up lather.
Can I use this brush with both soap and cream?
Yes. Pure badger works with hard soaps, soft soaps and creams, and can be used for bowl lathering or face lathering.
How do I prepare the brush before shaving?
Soak the knot in warm water for a minute or two, then shake out the excess water before loading your soap or cream.
Will a new brush shed hairs?
A few loose hairs in the first several uses are normal for a natural hair brush and usually stop on their own. Heavy shedding that continues is not normal.
How should the brush be dried?
Rinse the knot thoroughly, shake out the water and stand the brush bristles down so air can circulate. Do not store it wet in a closed cabinet or a sealed travel tube.
Does a new badger brush have a smell?
New natural hair brushes can carry a faint animal smell for the first few washes. Lathering the brush with soap several times and rinsing well normally clears it.

My husband loves it ! He was shocked at how large the knot is and was pleasantly surprised at the price I paid for it . He’s happy so I’m happy 😉

Pleasantly surprised. Been shaving for 20 years, never bought a “nice” brush. I am a moron for not spending an extra $20 sooner. That’s about the best I can say. Note that I shave my head and face at the same time. This brush really gets it done.
