The Parker Long Loft Shaving Brush sets a 20 mm pure badger knot on a long loft into a wood handle and is supplied with a Lucite stand in a gift box.

The long loft is the point of this brush. Giving the hair extra length above the ferrule lets the tips splay further over the soap, which makes the brush easy to load and soft in use, while the 20 mm knot keeps it controllable on the face.

Lathering Performance

Pure badger is the standard grade of badger hair. It absorbs and holds water well, and the hair keeps enough backbone to lift soap out of a hard puck without going limp. The long loft on this knot gives the tips more room to splay over the soap than a standard brush, so it loads easily and feels softer against the face.

Who This Brush Is Best For

Getting the Best from Your Brush

1. Soak the knot in warm water for a minute or two before you start, then shake out the excess.
2. Load the brush by working it over the soap or cream until the hair is fully charged.
3. Build the lather in a bowl or on the face, adding water a little at a time until it turns glossy.
4. Give a new brush several shaves to break in before judging how it loads and how soft it feels.

Adding water gradually rather than all at once is the usual difference between a thin lather and a thick one.

Care and Storage

Rinse the knot thoroughly under warm running water after every shave until the water runs clear, then shake out the excess and stand the brush bristles down so it can dry. Avoid boiling water, harsh detergents and leaving the brush sitting wet in an enclosed space. Do not stand the brush on its knot to dry. The Lucite stand holds the brush knot down between shaves so water drains away from the base of the knot. Dry the wooden handle as well rather than leaving it standing in water.
