The Omega Hi-Brush 0146150 sets a 25 mm Hi-Brush synthetic knot into a turned ash wood handle. The fibre is banded to look like badger hair.

This is the wooden handled brush in the Hi-Brush range, and the only one in this group with badger effect banding: dark through the middle with pale tips, so it reads as a badger brush across the bathroom while using no animal hair at all.

There is no break in period and no soaking needed; the brush feels the same on the first shave as on the hundredth. The tapered Hi-Brush filaments give soft tips over a firm base, so the knot lifts soap out of a hard puck and still feels gentle on the face.

Getting the Best from Your Brush

1. Soak the knot in warm water for a minute or two before you start, then shake out the excess.
2. Load the brush by working it over the soap or cream until the hair is fully charged.
3. Build the lather in a bowl or on the face, adding water a little at a time until it turns glossy.
4. A synthetic knot does not need breaking in, so it loads and feels the same from the first shave.

Adding water gradually rather than all at once is the usual difference between a thin lather and a thick one.

Care and Storage

Rinse the knot thoroughly under warm running water after every shave until the water runs clear, then shake out the excess and leave the brush to dry bristles down. Synthetic fibre needs no soaking before the shave and no conditioning, but avoid boiling water, which can soften the filaments and cost the knot its shape. Dry the wooden handle as well rather than leaving it standing in water.
