Product Overview

This is the whole GROOM bar soap range in one box: Rhassoul, Forest and Arabica, one 140 g bar of each. They are three genuinely different bars rather than three scents of the same soap.

Rhassoul is the clay one, cedarwood and sandalwood, made with Moroccan volcanic clay. Forest is fir and citrus with ground fir needles worked in. Arabica is the scrub, bitter orange and eucalyptus over espresso grounds. 420 g in total.

What This Set Does

Cold-process saponification is the slow way to make soap, and the reason to bother is glycerine. Glycerine draws water to the skin, and it is naturally produced during saponification. Industrial processes strip it out and sell it separately; cold process leaves it in the bar.

Buying all three at once is also the only sensible way to find out which you actually want to keep buying. They are different enough that most people have a clear preference by the end of the first bar.

Who This Is Best For

Trying the range
All three GROOM bars rather than committing to one.
Gift buyers
Three full 140 g bars in a box, not sample pieces.
Made locally
Handmade in Montreal, in small batches.

How To Use Them

Wet the bar and work it into a lather in the hands or straight onto damp skin. Rinse and leave the bar somewhere it can drain rather than sitting in water.

A cold-process bar lasts far longer if it dries between uses. A draining dish is the single thing that makes the difference.

Care and Storage

Keep the bar out of standing water and let it dry between uses. Stored dry, an unused bar keeps for a long time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which three soaps are in it?
Rhassoul, Forest and Arabica, one 140 g bar of each. That is GROOM’s entire bar soap range.
Are they full-size bars?
Yes. Three full 140 g bars, 420 g in total.
What is the difference between them?
Rhassoul is cedarwood and sandalwood with Moroccan volcanic clay. Forest is fir and citrus with ground fir needles for texture. Arabica is bitter orange and eucalyptus with espresso grounds, and it is the only one with a real scrub.
Which is the gentlest?
Rhassoul and Forest are the milder two. Arabica has espresso grounds in it, so it exfoliates where the others do not.
What is cold process?
A slow saponification method that keeps the glycerine naturally produced during the reaction inside the bar rather than stripping it out.
Are they superfatted?
Yes, all three with shea butter, which leaves free oil in the finished bar so it does not strip the skin.
How do I make them last?
Let each bar dry between uses on a draining dish, and keep the two you are not using wrapped and dry.
Where are they made?
GROOM makes its products in-house at its Montreal workshop, and states that it has done so since 2013. GROOM describes its formulas as crafted from natural ingredients from renewable sources, and states that its products are not tested on animals. Since March 2021 GROOM has been certified plastic negative by a third party.
