Four Piece Design and Blade Changes
The Valynor comes apart into four detachable parts: the base, the handle, the plate and the cap. The blade sits between the plate and the cap, and screwing the razor together clamps the assembly in place.
Because every part separates, the head can be rinsed thoroughly and dried, and there is no hinge or spring mechanism inside the head to wear or seize.
Who This Razor ts Best For
The published blade gap is 0.8 mm, which sits between the mildest and the widest gap razors.
The head and end cap are uncoated machine polished brass, so they darken and tarnish with use.
The Valynor is designed and developed in ttaly by The Goodfellas’ Smile.
Weight and Shaving Feel
Published figures are 78 g at an overall length of 92 mm, with an 85 mm handle, so it is a medium weight razor rather than a heavy one. The published blade gap is 0.8 mm.
How a razor feels is subjective and varies from one shaver to another. Beard type, blade choice, lather and technique all affect the result, so treat these descriptions as a general guide rather than a promise about your own shave.
Getting the Best from Your Razor
- Prepare the skin first. Many shavers find a hot shower or a warm damp towel before the shave makes a difference.
- Build lather with a shave soap or cream. A shave brush lifts the hair and spreads the lather more evenly.
- Let the razor do the work and apply very little pressure. Hold the head at a shallow angle to the skin rather than pressing it flat.
- Take the first pass with the grain, then reduce further on later passes if you want to.
- Rinse the head under running water between passes rather than tapping the razor on the sink.
- Change the blade once it starts to feel rough or drag. Blade life varies between individuals.
Care and Storage
Rinse the razor under warm running water after every shave and shake the water off. Take the razor apart from time to time and rinse the head and the handle threads so that soap does not build up. Dry the razor and leave it where air can reach it rather than in a closed cabinet or a sealed travel tube.
The head and end cap are uncoated brass, so they will tarnish. The handle is anodized aluminum, so keep abrasive cleaners away from the anodized surface. Brass can be polished back if you want it bright, but the darkening is cosmetic and does not affect the shave.
Keep unused blades dry and stored in their original packaging. Place used blades in a sealed Razor Blade Bank or another puncture-resistant container. Never place loose blades directly in household trash.

Sailor –
First of all, the Goodfellas Valynor is a strikingly beautiful razor. If you display your razor on a razor stand this razor is a knockout. The razor has a nice heft to it and gives you a close but comfortable shave with great blade feel without being aggressive. The razor handle is functional and easy to grip, even with wet hands besides, looking great on your razor stand. I also own a Goodfellow’s Stilleto Red aluminum razor which is also a great Razor and gives you a good close, comfortable shave with slightly more blade feel. If I had to pick a favorite I’d give a slight edge to the Valynor over the Stilleto but both razors are a pleasure to shave with and you will have to work hard to cut yourself with either of them.

Nice design, very good for shaving. Very good like that!

I have just switched to traditional shaving, I wanted to buy this razor for its beauty and lightness, very particular, maybe the price is a bit excessive, but at the moment I can’t make a comparison with other razors
Robert Pascale –
