Product Overview
Astra Superior Platinum double edge safety razor blades are among the most popular DE blades in the world of traditional wet shaving. Made in Russia from stainless steel with a platinum-coated, micro-ground edge, they are used daily by home shavers and professional barbers alike.
Each green pack contains 5 individually wrapped blades. Choose from 1, 5 or 20 packs to suit how you shave and how often you change blades.
Blade Characteristics
- ✓ Sharpness: often described by shavers as a balanced blade, sharp without feeling harsh
- ✓ Smoothness: the platinum-coated, micro-ground edge is designed for a clean, comfortable shave
- ✓ Longevity: maintains its edge over multiple shaves, depending on beard type and technique
- ✓ Character: a popular all-round favourite, frequently recommended as a reference blade for comparison

Colleen –
these blades are so sharp, compared to the Viking blades i got with the set i ordered with the Viking razor, i thought they weren’t working the first shave, they were so smooth they cut right through my tough hair, i get about 6 shaves out of 1 blade, these are my go-to blades for now on, way way better then the Vikings

This old fashioned blade gets the job done as well as the expensive Gillettes or Schicks. I was using this older form of shaving which is a ritualistic procedure with the brush and soap, and the clean up after. But Big Shave lived up to their name with the price of those twin to 5 edge cartridge blades costing high per shave. The difference between a good twin edge and 5 edge cartridge is not apparent. So I decided to once more go back in time and do not regret it.
This blade is fantastic, it gives a smooth clean shave. At just two shaves per blade, the blade cost per shave is better than half. I don’t see how the multi edge blades did better. And a small side benefit is the elimination of plastic waste.
Excellent product.

Green Astra are excellent blades, giving clean, safe and comfortable shaves, and I was able to get over 30 (!) shaves out of a single blade before it finally started to dull down.
I have a Russian-made Astra, though, not sure if newer Indian-made ones are as good.

I am 7 months into wet shaving, so this is coming from a relative “newbie* viewpoint.
After n starting with the gateway VanDerHagen shaving kit from Target ( with those AWFUL blades!), I started buying other razors to find the one(s) better suited to my face/skin.
I did the same journey with DE blades as well, buying an assortment with 16 different brands and a couple blades of each. I set up a spreadsheet to record my observations of shave quality (rated 1 through 5) and blade durability (how many shaves I could get per blade). I could then also compare retail cost per blade and then figure out cost per shave.
It was very interesting to see which brands my face liked best- some blades were almost “too sharp” and left me bleeding, or started out good and dulled quickly.
The winner for me were these Astra blades… Great shave right out of the package, consistent day to day, and longer lasting. And they with well in all my razors – from my vintage Gillette FatBoy and Slim to my Vikings Blade Emperor and Parker Variant.
I look forward settling in with these knowing that I will not be disappointed.

These blades are amazing for the price. Nothing has beaten them for me so far. Sharp, and stays sharp for about 3-4 shaves. The perfect razor blade
David Houle –
I have a medium beard and shave every 2-3 days. This blade provides ultra smooth shaving experience with a longevity lending to 4-5 good shaves on a blade. i use with an open comb razor that yields a BBS shave on one pass and cleanup!!

Very sharp! Depending on your razor they can be a bit harsh. I have the Merkur classic handle and these are on the edge of too intense. I like it that way though. Good smooth shave, at least six shaves per blade in my experience.
Rob Z –
These blades exceeded my expectations at a great price and mild shave with very little irritation. I would recommend
Sir Loyne –
When I first got a safety razor, I tried Feather blades. they were good, but didn’t last very long. These are cheaper and I can get 10 shaves per blade. If you shave every other day, and get 10 shaves per blade, it will be nearly 5.5 years before you need more.
