Bay Rum is the oldest scent in wet shaving and this is Taconic’s take on it: a full-bodied splash with hints of cinnamon and citrus, refreshing and spicy rather than sweet.
It is alcohol free, which is the point of the range. The base is an organic herbal extract of aloe vera infused with witch hazel, Japanese honeysuckle, chamomile flower, willow bark, calendula flowers, goldenseal and lavender buds, with glycerin and allantoin alongside it and a light hit of menthol for the cooling. 4 oz., made in the USA.

What This Splash Does
A blade takes the top layer of skin along with the hair. That is why a shaved face stings and tightens. A post-shave splash puts something back on that surface immediately, before it has a chance to dry out and complain.
Taconic’s route to that is botanical rather than alcoholic. It names witch hazel for what it calls anti-inflammatory, toning and antiseptic properties, aloe vera, glycerin and allantoin for moisturizing and healing, and a light hit of menthol for the cooling. Those are Taconic’s descriptions of its own formula.

How To Use It
Rinse your face with cold water after shaving or cleansing. Shake the bottle and pour liberally into the palm of your hand, rub your hands together and pat it onto your face and neck in a downward motion. Avoid the eye area, because the menthol in it will sting.
That downward motion and the cold rinse are Taconic’s own instructions, not ours. The cold water closes things down before the splash goes on.
Care and Storage
Close the bottle after use and keep it out of direct sunlight. There is nothing in it that needs refrigerating or special handling.
