One of the most user friendly de razors I have, at a great price. Always great service from vendor.

Gorgeous, functional, high quality. Aggressive? Just about right.
    Color: Graphite
Update after a week of use. I tried a feather blade in and it goes even better, though the original Parker blade was pretty good. It’s becoming my favorite razor fast. Much recommended.
    _______
I received it 2 hours ago, and I shaved with it 10 minutes ago. Here is my feedback. A shave is not merely the result of the razor. Post review is some specs in my case, to see if my experience might be transportable to yours.

    + Aesthetics:
the razor is really gorgeous. Stylish, masculine, cool. I have the graphite, and I really like it. It’s just a gorgeous design to see and even at a tactile level it doesn’t just look, but also feels beautiful in your hand.

    + Quality:
The machining looks excellent, then again I am no machinist, so I defer to the judgement of the competent. Had I received it as a gift, the spartan packaging (which I also like) notwithstanding, I would have imagined its price to be 5X what it is. I wonder where it is made, the box would not say. Google says USA. I understand the company is Indian, their straight razors are made in US. I presume this is made in India. Both cases are ok for me.

    + Functionality:
The head of this razor is much larger than any of my other razors. And yet, no problem around the nose or in other areas.
The handle is exactly the way I like it. Grippy and very functional. Similar to my Feather (cost: 200+ bucks) but sharper looking. My suggestion to the company: while already good, this handle would gain from being a bit more grippy.
Love the balance of the entire thing.
Usually it takes one shave to get used to a razor, but I got an excellent shave at the first try. Very close.

    + Blades
I have used it only once, a few minute ago, with its own Parker blade. The blade was sharp enough but it felt less sharp than feather. I should imagine the result would be even better with a feather. The parker blades also seem considerably lighter and thus more bendable than the feathers, I wonder if micro-vibrations play a role.

    + Agressive?
While obviously more aggressive than the SS Feather, I found it only mildly more aggressive than King C. Perhaps because of the excellent handle, I could always intuitively find the right angle of cut along the topography of my face (and I shave without mirror). I would say, just aggressive enough for me, maybe I’d like it a bit more aggressive (but using Feather blades next time might fix that).

    + Overall:
a beautiful object, functional, works for me, and the price is really good. Obviously I cannot comment on durability. I am happy of the purchase. I would have easily paid more for this.
    ______________________

+ Beard: thick and coarse in the best of spots, barbed wire in the worst spots
+ Skin sensitivity: I have no idea, since I never had any other skin as benchmark
+ Shaving location: I shave blindly, under the shower.
+ Shaving style: I shave only against the grain, from the throat up. First passage perpendicular against the grain. Second passage 30-45 deg against the grain. Then here and there in difficult spots
+ Foam: I’ve tied proraso and others. I feel much better with dove body wash, which is what I use. I know it sounds crazy, but that works much better for me than any fancy soap.
    + Blades: Feather (rarely Gillette)
+ Post shave: proraso aftershave, then a cream
    + Fundamental elements for me:
1- Super hot water (hence the shower).
2- I never wash my face with soap before shaving, though I keep it under abundant hot water. Also, I never rinse out the old soap until the end.
+ Seniority in DE shaving: Have done it for 8 months. My other razors are Feather stainless steal, and Gillette C King

+ I find shaving to be an enjoyable activity. I find razors, like mechanical watches, or guns, or compasses, to be beautiful objects to possess when they are well made.

This may be a bit of a lengthy write up, but I’ll try to keep it short.
TLDR; Slant razors work as advertised, and you should get one if you’ve been looking into them.

    For those of you that will read;
After a long while of trying various blades, brushes, soaps, and razors, I officially narrowed down my daily razors to the Edwin Jagger DE89 for my nether regions, the Gamechanger .84p for daily shaving both head and face, and the Muhle R41 for the head specifically when I have more then 36 hours of growth.

All three razors will shave my face well, with my DE89 taking 3 passes and some cleanup to achieve BBS on my face, and like 6 to get it done on my head. The gamechanger .84 will do the same thing though I usually feel fine leaving the house after 2 passes and some cleanup on the face, and 3 passes with some cleanup on my head. This is where the Muhle R41 comes in, or so I thought before purchasing it. The face is the same as the gamechanger. The R41 up top gets everything bbs after 2 passes, except for the rear of my head, where it doesn’t matter what razor I use, I need to take like 30 passes over the same 3 spots to actually get it smooth. The lower crown and back “corners” of my head. Very annoying, and usually leads to some serious alum block stinging.

This is why I purchased the Parker Semi Slant on a whim the other day. $30 on amazon and I said screw it why not? Some people online had said it’s cool, but they don’t feel the slant doing anything different. Some people had said it’s super aggressive and they cut themselves up with it. My experience was very very different. The Parker managed to shave my face ALMOST BBS in 2 passes with no cleanup at all. I could clean it up, but unless I’m going out on a date, or have to close a big deal at work, I see no need. This is basically the same as the R41 except it was significantly smoother.

Next I took it up top. WTG I said wow this thing really takes it off huh? I still had plenty left to go though so I lathered up again and went for another pass which was so smooth, and took me down to BBS everywhere except the crown and back corner spots I always have issues with. I said hmmm this is what the R41 feels like after the third pass usually… I did a quick cleanup around my ears, and then hit the problem spots and boom! Lather! JK not really I just had to throw that reference in there. If you know, you know. Problem spots got shaved right off with 1 pass over using buffing strokes.

I have to say that this whole slant razor thing has really got me thinking about the terms we use every day when talking about razors. Aggression and efficiency. I’ve concluded that some of my “aggressive” razors aren’t as “efficient” as some of my “mild” razors. Muhle R41 vs Parker Semi Slant in particular. It’s shocking to me actually that people don’t recommend slant razors more… If you’re someone with really thick and course hair, not necessarily long growth, which are two separate things, then you owe it to yourself to try a slant razor. It seems like marketing mumbo jumbo, and the slant isn’t very significant yada yada yada… This thing works.

That’s all, and thanks for reading if you made it this far!

Results in a very close and smooth shave – just that one has to be careful. Not for the inexperienced, this one is aggressive enough to cause minor nicks and cuts, especially with brand new sharp blades.

These days you can find many manufacturers offering DE razors for $400.00, $600.00,and believe it or not $800.00 cdn. I own two razors that are stainless steel and adjustable worth over $200.00 each! This $40.00 razor fitted with a mild blade will get you to BBS on only 2 passes. I had no irritation and no feedback from my alum block. This has left me in an uncomfortable position. Why did I spend so much on expensive razors when this Parker slant gives a closer, and because fewer passes are required, a more comfortable shave at this price point? I rate this as a top tier razor.

The razor is well made and is a good value however for me it’s a bit much on the aggressive side as it has too much blade exposure for my liking. I’ve tried it three times with three different blades and two different soaps and it still feels to aggressive for me. Please keep in mind that razor reviews are highly subjective and no two faces are alike. While this razor wasn’t for me doesn’t mean that it isn’t for you. I’ll stick to my Parker Solo Edge which I absolutely love and my Rex Konsul which is an adjustable slant that gives me a great shave without being overly aggressive. I’ll try it again in the future with another blade and soap. If my opinion changes I’ll update this review.
